Goran Lenmarker remains optimistic about the possibility of solving the Karabakh conflict this year
“I remain optimistic about the possibility of solving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict this year. To have a preamble is a good starting point. I have big expectations that there really is a political will in both Baku and Yerevan to move forward and find a peaceful and lasting solution,” OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Special Representative on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Goran Lennmarker told Trend News in an interview.
“I think both Azerbaijan and Armenia have realized that having an unresolved conflict is costly - not least when it comes to the human suffering. The short war in Georgia in 2008 reminded all of us that unresolved conflicts are very dangerous,” he added.
Touching upon the Armenian-Turkish relations, Mr. Lenmarker said: “I find the contact between Turkey and Armenia and the protocols they signed very important, and I think a real breakthrough is possible. Of course, now it is up to the Parliaments of Armenia and Turkey to take this a step further. I think this entire process can provide positive prospects, not only for Armenia and Turkey, but for the entire region of Caucasus and beyond.

If Turkey recognizes Genocide, all problems will be solved: Turkish journalist
If Turkey recognizes Armenian Genocide and apologize, all problems will be solved, Taraf daily reporter Sevan Nishinyan said in TEKE TEK program broadcasted by Haberturk TV company.
He also noted that recognition of Genocide by the U.S. will be tribute to history. His opponent, head of Turkish history department, professor Yusuf Khalachoglu known for his false views on history, was constantly interrupting Nishinyan not allowing him to present true facts. Khalachoglu stated that 250.000-300.000 Armenians died of starvation and various epidemics in Turkey in the beginning of last century. Nishinyan lost temper and yelled: “You are lying”. Thereafter he furnished documents proving the fact the massacre in Ottoman Empire was Armenian Genocide, including the decree singed by Talat Pasha. Realizing that passions reached rock bottom, the presenter ran a spot, interrupting a show.

An event on resisting the policy of denying genocides took place in Marseilles
Recently, the fifth event by the Amnesie Internationale organization has taken place in the French city of Marseilles. The organization is aimed at resisting the policy of denying the genocides of the 20th century. Along with some intelligentsia and art representatives, NKR Permanent Representative to France Hovhannes Gevorkian participated in the event.
Making a speech during the round-table discussions, Hovhannes Gevorkian dwelt on the mass massacres in the Azerbaijani town of Sumgait in 1988, noting that having avoided any corresponding assessment by the Soviet authorities or the international community, similar atrocities spread over to the Azerbaijani towns populated by Armenians, later growing into a wide-scale war against Nagorno Karabakh.
He noted that political condemnation of genocides and mass massacres would prevent new tragedies.

Czech journalist rebuffs Azeri misinformation
Azerbaijanis organized “exhibition” at the Lidice-Memorial, which was called the worst mockery of the Lidice victims by the Check journalist Dana Mazalova. The “exhibition” at the Lidice-Memorial was aimed to spread misinformation about events in Khojalu. Azerbaijanis tried to present the Czech village of Lidice , destroyed by the Nazis, and the Azerbaijani town of Khodjalu as twin towns.
The exhibition displayed “photographs” allegedly shot by civilian and military journalist Chingiz Mustafayev, the author of the famous cover of the Khojalu tragedy. None of the photographs has been made by Mustafaev, Dana Mazalova , well-known Czech journalist told a news conference in Yerevan jointly held with Ara Saghatelyan, Director of the Public Relations and Information Office of Armenian President. Dana Mazalova is an eyewitness of those events, she was covering the hostilities in Karabakh.
"Unfortunately, the Czech authorities did not check what the Azerbaijanis had said or shown. We together with my Czech colleagues have decided to respond to the black PR of Azerbaijan. The only person who can do it - it's me, because I have seen all the raw materials, which Chingiz Mustafayev made," Dana Mazalova said.
According to her, on the photographs, presented by the Azeri, naked bodies of men are shown, but the photos by Mustafaev featured only people in cloths.
After Mustafaev discovered the bodies of people, he carried some of them and when he returned for the rest, the corpses had been already mutilated and scalped, she said. The photos by Mustafaev featured only people in cloths, she stressed.
According to the Check journalist, a video, shot by Mustafayev shows that dead people are lying near Aghdam and one can see the single moving person in the Azerbaijani uniform, not even reacting to the helicopter above.
